Durham Bowls

In 2018 and 2019, FIG organized the Durham Bowls events in collaboration with Durham Public Schools Nutrition. Local chefs, students, and school nutrition managers came together to form teams, develop delicious school-lunch-in-a-bowl concepts, and present their creations to a panel of students judges and community taste testers at the Durham Bowls Festival each October.

The events sparked ongoing collaborations between schools and chefs, incorporated more scratch cooking and local products onto the school menu, and allowed the Durham community to dream big about what school food can be. Find more information and images on the Durham Bowls Facebook page.
