WE’RE COLLECTING VIDEOs to see HOW SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE dealing with COVID-19.

Here’s what we’d like for you to do: 

  • Take a video using your phone or camera.

  • You can be anywhere that works for you (home, school, outside, etc.).

  • Answer a few questions and tell us your story.

  1. Imagine that 10 years from now, we are faced with another disaster like COVID-19. What would you say MUST CHANGE in the next 10 years to put your school foodservice program in the best position to respond? Dream big!

  2. How has ordering or getting food from your usual distributors changed during COVID-19?

  3. Are you using any local products now? How does that compare to before COVID-19?

  4. How has preparing the food for students changed?

  5. Were you cooking from scratch before COVID-19? What about now? Why is it different?

  6. How has staffing changed? (E.g., fewer staff willing/able to come in, fewer staff asked to come in, staff being asked to do different kinds of work, etc.)

  7. What do you think of the food/meals being served during this time?

  10. What do you wish you had right now that you don’t?

  11. What do you wish you could do right now that you can’t?

  12. What do you need from your local, state, or federal government that you’re not getting right now?

  13. What have you gotten from your local, state, or federal government that is critical right now?

  14. Before this crisis happened, did you think of school foodservice as being on the front lines of disaster response in your community? What about now?

  15. What else can you tell us about this unprecedented time in school foodservice?

If you are an administrator:

  1. How are these meals being paid for? (E.g., federal Summer Feeding Program funds, local donations, etc.)

  2. How long can you continue to operate this program? What are the limiting factors to ongoing operation?
